Welcome to Kitsune! This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our privacy-focused anime and manga tracking app.

1. Introduction

   Kitsune is a privacy-focused app that allows you to track your animes and mangas using your MyAnimeList account. We collect minimal data to minimize app crashes and to better understand the usage of certain features. We prioritize your privacy and are committed to never collecting any data that can be traced back to you.
   Respecting your privacy is our priority. You can choose to opt-out of anonymous analytics entirely by going to the app settings. Open Kitsune, navigate to Settings located at the profile tab > Privacy > Disable Anonymous Analytics. This will prevent your device information from being included in future reports sent to improve the app.
   Kitsune utilizes YouTube to provide trailers for each anime page. To function, this feature requires requesting data from Google servers. If you'd prefer to completely prevent this data exchange, you can easily disable trailers within the app. Simply navigate to Settings > Connected Services > YouTube and toggle off the "Trailers" option. This will ensure trailers are no longer fetched and no data is exchanged with YouTube/Google servers.

2. Data Collection

   2.1 Anonymous Data Collection
   We do not sell or rent your data to any third parties. Furthermore, our app does not contain any advertisements. We believe in keeping your data secure and confidential.
   
   2.3 Aptabase Analytics
   To help us minimize crashes and improve the app's performance, we utilize the Aptabase service, a privacy-first app analytics tool. This service anonymizes the reports we receive, ensuring that all data remains private. The information collected includes:

   • Random User ID: This helps us understand the number of users currently using the app and how many are using the latest version.
   • Device Type: We collect information about the device you're using, such as iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Vision Pro.
   • OS Version: We collect the version of the operating system you're using.
   • App Store or TestFlight Version: We determine whether you're using the App Store or TestFlight version of the app.
   • Locale: We collect information about your selected language and country.
   • App Information: We collect data related to the app itself, including the app version, build number, and any relevant reports.
   These reports are only sent when certain events occur, such as when content fails to load, when a user disables or utilizes certain app functionalities (e.g., transparency background or accesses some features like Your Schedule). This information is solely used to improve the app's functionality and understand user preferences to better manage development time on certain features.

3. Data Security

   3.1 MyAnimeList API
   The app's content data is provided by the MyAnimeList API via secure HTTP/S requests. All HTTPS requests are encrypted using SSL/TLS protocols, ensuring the privacy and integrity of the transmitted data.
